The Social Conflict
Social media and its embedded AI based recommendation systems target our attention and are dedicated to us to spend more time on the screen. So, their recommendations are not objective or ethically designed, but have a tendency to exhibit post-truth sharings/news since they are more attractive.
Companies are making money from advertisers paying more and more for our attention sticking on the mobile phones.
This disinformation based income model creates a “human futures contract” platform for the first time in our financial history. AI systems change the way we think and hence behave indirectly, not deliberately, just desiring to maximize their objective functions: more attention to attract from users!
Society starts to become more separated and being fulfilled with sharpened opinions. People start to believe absurd hypotheses of others since the recommendation systems predict that you have a potential to be interested in them!
We are losing our common-sense and objectivity. We are losing what Aristotle emphasizes the importance of, the middle-way approach, Democracy! [11]
